6. About this program

-----------------------

1. Standalone, client or server

The most important selection while running setup is choosing between standalone, client or server.

Select RekenTest (standalone) if you do not want to use the program in a network, (e.g. as a home user). Also select standalone if you just want to get a quick impression of the features of this program.

Select RekenTest Client if you want to use the program in a network. A server program must be present to connect to.

Select RekenTest Server to install the program as a server. Usually only System Administrators will need to do this. The server enables clients to connect from anywhere, offers a groupmanagement-system and serves as a central data-storage. After installation the Help chapter 2 Server will tell you everything about using this program in a network.

2. Demo accounts

You are offered the option to install demo-accounts during the installation of the server. This way you can quickly log on as a client and also have a look server-side how to create accounts for yourself.

Two domains and three accounts will be created, depending on the language selected during installation.

Username, password with an English installation:

Student (no password)
Teacher teacher
Teacher2 teacher
Administrator administrator

Spanish:

Estudiante (no password)
Profesor profesor
Profesor2 profesor
Administrador administrador

Dutch:

Leerling (no password)
Leerkracht leerkracht
Leerkracht2 leerkracht
Administrator administrator

You should use these accounts for demonstration purposes only, remove them before using the server in 'real life'.

3. Documentation

Configure your help settings in the Preferences-form.

For the most updated version of the Help you can configure RekenTest to use the online Help (this is the default). If you don't have internet-access you can use the lcoal help instead.

4. Installation

Do not install this version of RekenTest in the same folder of a previous version. If you are upgrading, you should deinstall the older version first and then install this version.

If you want to maintain two different versions, install them in separate folders. If both versions have their respective folders, there should be no problem using two different versions on a single computer.

An installation manual is provided with the setup-file.

This program needs at least

6. About this program

This program has already seen years of development, sometimes slowly, sometimes dedicated and it was always fun to do. I hope it will be as useful and enjoyable for you to work with as it was a pleasure for me to create and expand it.
